Traffic & Electrical Maintenance

This department handles citizen requests as listed below:
- Creating and designing of special signs
- Maintenance and repair of existing traffic signs
- Keeping a sign inventory
- Painting of all street and parking lot lines and arrows
- Repair and installation of all traffic signals as well as “City-owned” Street lights
- Maintenance of electrical needs at the City’s camp grounds, tennis courts, parks, bridges as well as other City facilities
The Traffic Maintenance Department has 2 employees. They are responsible for the designing of special signs as well as the replacement of signs when necessary due to deterioration, vandalism, damage and theft. They also paint center lines, lane arrows, stop bars, cross walks and all parking spaces on the street and in city lots. The Electrical Department also has 2 employees and is responsible for all traffic signals and a few city street lights. The bulk of the street lights are owned and maintained by MidAmerican Energy. The Electrical Department handles all the electrical needs for city facilities such as City Hall, Golf Course, Water Pollution Control, Cemetery, etc.
Because of the crucial safety factor in repairing traffic signals and the restoration of stop and yield signs, these departments will respond immediately to these needs.
These two departments get an average of 299 requests a year with a 96% completion rate.
