Street Maintenance & Utility Patch Crew

This department handles citizen requests as listed below:

  • Pothole repair
  • Crack sealing
  • Alley maintenance including dust control
  • General street maintenance, repair and short overlays
  • Cleaning of culverts and ditches
  • Minor bridge repair
  • Snow & ice removal
  • Utility Patches

The Street Maintenance Department has 9 employees.  They are responsible for the maintenance, repair and reconstruction of approximately 170 miles of streets and 60 miles of alleys.  Using several pieces of heavy equipment they work with asphalt, rock and concrete as the need requires.  They clean ditches as well as alley and driveway culverts.  They perform minor repair and seal applications to 9 bridges.

The Utility Patch Crew has 2 employees who, according to city specifications, repair street disruptions made by utility companies as well as city contractors such as plumbers.  They remove and install subbase, working in concrete and asphalt from minor to full depth patching.

These departments get an average of 751 requests a year with a 88% completion rate.
