Chester Avenue Reconstruction Project

This project is for the full-width, full-depth reconstruction with curb and gutter of Chester Avenue from Skyline Drive to the end of the City right-of-way.  When originally constructed, this stretch of road was meant to accommodate residential traffic only.  With the heavy truck traffic associated with the recent construction at the nursing home, this road has had numerous failures which require continued patching.  The project will include the full intersection of Skyline Drive to allow turning movement to take place on PCC. 

This road is the only entrance into the development site and will require the road to be to be built in phases to allow access twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.  

Bids will be received and opened by the City of Ottumwa on June 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.  The bid report and bid award recommendation will be presented at the City Council meeting on July 6, 2010.    

This project will be funded with reallocated CIP funds approved on December 15, 2009.
