Ferry Street Reconstruction Project (Finley to Mary)

Project Date:
July 15, 2010
Description:

This project is for the full-depth, full-width Portland concrete cement reconstruction of Ferry Street from Mary Street to Finley Avenue.  The existing street has been patched several times including an HMA overlay. This project includes 1827 LF of storm pipe; 17 intakes and 358 LF of sanitary sewer line. Ottumwa Water and Hydro is paying for a new water main to be installed during the reconstruction of Ferry Street and is included in the project.  Estimated cost of the water main is $275,000.00.

This project will be funded with a combination of funding sources.  CIP funds were reallocated to Ferry Street on April 27, 2009 for total CIP funding in the amount of $756,428. The city has been awarded an I-Jobs Grant in the amount of $242,000.00 to be used on Ferry Street.  The I-Jobs monies will off set the amount of CIP funds needed.  Depending on final construction cost there should be approximately $213,000 of CIP to be re-allocated to other street projects.

Bids were received and opened by the City of Ottumwa on May 26, 2010.  The contractor for this project is Alliance Construction Group of Grimes, Iowa.
