Quality Neighborhoods Matter

Neighborhoods Are The Cornerstone Of Every Community.
Neglected and abandoned properties, vandalism and crime suck the life out of good neighborhoods. Often people are intimidated by the sense of disorder in their neighborhood. When people stop caring, things take a turn for the worse. Pulling the curtains closed doesn't solve the problem.

Make A Difference In Your Neighborhood.
We all want to live in a healthy, safe and vibrant neighborhood, but sometimes the challenges are too great for just one person.

Let's Work Together!
Contact Officer Dan Lentsch at 641-683-0661 or E-mail lentschd@ci.ottumwa.ia.us
for assistance with organizing your own neighborhood watch & awareness group.

Adopt a Block Program.
Contact Jody Gates at 641-683-0694 or E-mail gatesj@ci.ottumwa.ia.us to adopt a block in your neighborhood.  You can help keep your block or neighborhood litter and problem free.  The city will supply the purple trash bags or bag tags for the litter, just give us a call.  Use this handy guide when you want to contact city departments about problems in your neighborhood.  Whether you need to report a street light out, a pothole or tall weeds and grass, the City Directory provides phone numbers to help you connect with city departments, staff and services.
