Base Service
Fee: $14.00 per month, billed on your water bill
Includes collection of one 33-gallon container or bag of trash each week.
Includes collection of an unlimited amount of recyclables each week.
Includes bulk item collection on an as-needed basis.
Includes the collection of properly prepared limbs & branches
Please have your items to the curb prior to 5:00 AM on your collection day. All trash cans & recycling bins MUST be removed from the curb within 24 hours of collection. During the summer collection may begin at 4:00 AM. Changes will be announced through local media.
- Trash that is not properly prepared WILL NOT be collected.
- Trash must be placed in the can so that the lid will close.
- Extra bags, sitting on top of the cans, without bag tags, will not be collected.
- Small bags that are tied together and have only one tag will not be collected.
- Excessively large bags, more than 33 gallons or heavier than 40 pounds, will not be collected, whether or not they have a bag tag.
- Trash in cans that exceed 33 gallons will not be collected.
Curbside Recycling Collection
This service is provided to each residential household once per week as part of the base service rate. Collection will be on the same day as the trash collection. Each household will receive a recycling bin as part of the curbside collection service.
Curbside Collection of Yard Waste
Your basic trash fee pays for the collection of limbs & branches which are properly prepared. All branches and limbs must be in lengths of 3 feet or less and bundled in weights less than 50 pounds, to aid in the collection of this material. Branches can be no larger than 3" in diameter. The bundles must be set out at the curb by 5:00 AM on Tuesday for collection.
Leaves, grass clippings and/or small garden debris must be bagged in Ottumwa/Wapello bags. These bags are brown paper bags and the logo is printed in blue ink. The bags cost $1.00 each and are available at the courtesy counters of the major grocery stores in Ottumwa. Bags that are purchased elsewhere will not be collected at the curb. Please make sure that you are purchasing the correct bags.
Construction and Demolition
The minimum price for construction and demolition debris up to 500 pounds is $12.00 or $48.00 per ton.

Option #2: Stickers - 3 mo. sticker $12.00, 6 mo. sticker $24.00, 1 yr. sticker $45.00
