WPCF Electromagnetic Flow Meter Installation

Project Date:
September 21, 2009 - April 6, 2010
Description:

This project was for the installation of an Electromagnetic Flow Meter at the Water Pollution Control Facility.  This included all labor materials and equipment necessary to install the flow meter, concrete manhole, electrical, sump pump, piping, earthwork, surface restoration and miscellaneous associated work, including cleanup.   In order to accurately measure daily flows from our Elm Street sewage pump station a 20-inch in-line electromagnetic flow meter is required. This replaced a non-operating flow meter. The new flow meter was installed on the Elm Street force main at the WPCF and not on the force main at the pump station. This meter has a one-year warranty.  We currently have two similar meters in place that have been operational for over fourteen (14) years. The flow measurement is a requirement of IDNR.  This is an item that is listed in the draft of the IDNR Consent Order that is currently being developed.

This project was let on July 29, 2009, and the contractor was Weidner Construction, Inc. of Marshalltown, Iowa.

River Drive Reconstruction (Market to Green)

Project Date:
April 16, 2010 - June 6, 2010
Description:

This project was for the full-depth, full-width Portland concrete cement reconstruction of River Drive from Market Street to Green Street.  The previous street had completely failed due in part to drainage problems.  Past attempts have included adding French drains in several locations.  The goal with this project was to eliminate standing water and reduce maintenance costs.

This was one of the streets selected for Westgate TIF funding at the Special Meeting held on March 10, 2008 and was budgeted for $122,714.

The contractor for the project was Shipley Contracting of Burlington, Iowa.
