Historic Preservation Commission
The Ottumwa Historic Preservation Commission is composed of six members appointed to three-year terms by the Ottumwa City Council. The Commission was formed in 1991. Most of the Commission's activities have been to 1) identify historic properties potentially eligible for listing on the National Register and 2) assist property owners in getting their historic properties and neighborhoods listed. Currently there are four historic districts in Ottumwa listed on the National Register.
In 1998 the Commission conducted a citizens' survey and wrote a comprehensive historic preservation development plan. The plan was presented to the Ottumwa City Council as a recommendation for future historic preservation activities within the city.
The current members of the Ottumwa Historic Preservation Commission are:
Fred Zesiger, Chair
Joyce Kramer
Stacy Latham
Denny Whitson
Michael Johns
City Staff working with the Historic Preservation Commission are:
Nick Klimek: klimekn@ci.ottumwa.ia.us

The Ottumwa Historic Preservation Commission meets at 7:00 p.m. in the Ottumwa City Council Chamber of City Hall the fourth Wednesday of each month. The public is encouraged to attend.
