Strategic Planning - City Council Goals and Priorities
Strategic Plan
City of Ottumwa held a series of strategic planning meetings in the fall of 2008 to solicit input for future planning of public services to the community. The sessions give the City Council guidance from a large cross-section of the community regarding the needs and desires for the future of Ottumwa. The City is assembled a focus group made up of representatives from the community including; seniors, youth, civic organizations, labor unions, business & industry, education, churches, health care. Over 80 individuals participated in the planning process. Click to read the Strategic Planning Summary Report.
Goal Setting
In March 2008, City Staff and the Council met to identify recent accomplishments, issues, trends, concerns, potential new initiatives and programs. The goal setting process is important because it (a.) gives the Council an opportunity to commonly identify areas of concern and (b.) gives City staff direction as to issues the Council would like to address. Citizen Survey
The Ottumwa City Council commissioned a citizen survey to gather input from residents to assist the Council in establishing future policy and direction for the City. This will help the City plan a course of action that is responsive to the needs of the community as a whole.
