Flooding Information

The Des Moines River has returned below Flood Stage ( 10 feet ). The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is forecasting that the Des Moines River should remain within nomal limits. This forecast does not account for additional rainfall, which could push the river back up.

RECOVERY ASSISTANCE - FEMA
Residents who have suffered damages or losses due to the flood should register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621- 3362). Applications can also be made online at www.fema.gov. Residents needing Internet access for applying for assistance programs can use the computers at the Ottumwa Public Library.

Residents contacting FEMA for assistance will need to have, a return phone number, address of damaged property, Social Security number, current mailing address, a brief description of damages, insurance information if applicable, and bank account information if you would choose to have assistance benefits deposited directly in your bank account.
